Intro

My initial pick for the second song was my 2024 Song of the Year. But then an Aqua song came on, and this one clicked. I’d been listening to it because a middle section kind of mirrored my own life. After a deep dive into the translation, it hit me: this is the origin of the “dyed in Aqua’s colors” meme! (I heard “want to be dyed in Aqua’s colors” at C105 and actually thought it was from ‘Kimi-iro ni Somaru’).

While thinking about the fourth song, I realized this one was actually my 2023 Song of the Year. No biggie, let’s just kick things off with my YouTube history — consider it my first ‘Song of the Year’.

Though similar experiences got me listening to and slowly liking Aqua, honestly, my “Because you’re here, I can always do my best” moment actually came from Warma. Writing this, I suddenly realized what truly influenced me, and why things are the way they are now. But just like how this song brought change, my current confusion will definitely find a way to resolve itself.

I held back from elaborating further; it’s a joyful track. For an idol, this song is pure fire, absolutely perfect for that path. Plus, the lyrics aren’t too complex (for non-native speakers), even I can get them (doge).

I only got into Aqua last year (2024). Hearing this song constantly (during 3D streams), I figured it came after she’d built up some experience, a powerhouse track that just topped the charts. Turns out, it was a debut peak! (‘For the Win’ was a Bilibili project, so I’ll skip that one for now.) All her subsequent idol-style songs were great, actually got me into that whole idol vibe. It even got me into idol concerts (though I’m less keen now after Aqua’s graduation).

Also, my translations might differ from others because I often inject my own feelings. So some parts aren’t a direct literal translation of the lyrics (same deal with the previous song ). This’ll be even clearer in the translation for my possibly next 2024 Song of the Year. Just copying a standard translation feels kinda pointless; when it’s something I truly love, I want to leave my own mark (dye it my color).

Anyway, I also want to be dyed in Aqua’s colors! She’s one of my top three favorites, after all ~~ (Sucks I couldn’t get her standee at C105, or Yuuki’s either 😭)~~.

2025.01.27 Sang this song. While singing, I thought of Aqua’s cover of Prideful Idol . It was a pretty unique experience. 2025.05.26 Sang it again (though I did sing it once in VRChat before). Still love ‘Because you’re here, I could walk this far; without you, I can’t even see what’s ahead.’ It’s truly energizing when you’re feeling down and find someone who inspires you, or a goal you really want to achieve.
